1. Product Overview
P0916VL belongs to Foxboro classic P0916 FTA terminal family, an upgraded HART-enhanced version of P0916JQ, exclusively matched with FBM204 analog output and FBM205 HART analog input 4-channel 4–20mA I/A Series rack cards. It is a passive wiring transition base without built-in power supply or isolation circuits, acting as the physical bridge between rack FBM cards and on-site HART smart transmitters, valve positioners and VFD analog signals.
Compared with P0916JQ, P0916VL optimizes internal PCB trace impedance matching to realize lossless transparent transmission of HART digital superimposed signals on 4–20mA analog loops, effectively avoiding HART communication failure caused by signal attenuation and impedance mismatch. It adopts spring compression terminal structure: stripped wire can be directly inserted into the spring clamp without crimping cable lugs, greatly shortening field wiring construction time and reducing hidden troubles of poor contact caused by loose lugs.
Four independent analog/HART loops are divided into separate terminal areas, each loop equipped with independent short-circuit test pins. Technicians can short the signal loop for calibration and fault diagnosis without disconnecting field cables. A special shielded flat ribbon cable connects P0916VL to the rear interface of FBM204/FBM205, minimizing electromagnetic interference from auxiliary equipment such as pumps and compressors. The whole unit is fixed on standard 35mm DIN rail inside DCS cabinets, realizing standardized and neat cabinet wiring layout.
The substrate PCB is coated with industrial anti-corrosion conformal coating, complying with ISA S71.04 Class G3 harsh industrial standard, suitable for power plant, petrochemical, chemical and offshore oil & gas Zone2 hazardous control room environments. Foxboro has discontinued original mass production of P0916VL; the updated RH916VL series is the direct replacement model. At present, only surplus new stock and fully tested refurbished spare parts are supplied for maintenance and renovation of aging I/A Series HART analog I/O systems.
